The domestic highend medical device market has entered a development period, but the core technology and services are still the development pain points of enterprises. According to a survey conducted by the Beijing Business Daily, companies including Neusoft Medical, Sanofisheng and Guangyao Baiyun Mountain have accelerated their entry into the high-end medical equipment market. For a long time, more than 80% of the high-end medical device market has been monopolized by multinational companies. Despite the rise of domestic high-end medical equipment manufacturers with independent research and development capabilities, it is inevitable that they will still be buying foreign core components and domestic assembly.
Business layout
The long-term monopoly of foreign domestic medical device market has begun to change. Zhao Zilin, chairman of the China Medical Equipment Association, said that China's medical equipment industry has entered the era of gold development, and the industry development will usher in earth-shaking changes. It is expected that by 2020, the medical equipment market will exceed 800 billion yuan. The huge market size has attracted many domestic enterprises to lay out high-end medical equipment.
Recently, Sino-Shenzhen Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Sino Weisheng”) officially launched the “fine wide-angle” series CT independently developed. It is understood that the product launched this time in the 76 cm large aperture, 20 line pairs of spatial resolution to achieve breakthrough. According to the data, Sanofi Shengsheng was established in 2012 and has obtained double certifications for Zhongguancun high-tech enterprises and state-level high-tech enterprises.
In fact, not only does a company in Sanofi focus its target on high-end medical devices. In July, Neusoft Medical completed the equity delivery and started the countdown to the market. According to Wu Shaojie, CEO of Neusoft Medical, with the gradual development of the high-end market, Neusoft Medical, which is mainly engaged in R&D and manufacturing of imaging equipment such as CT, put its listing plan on the agenda. At the same time, Wu Shaojie revealed that in the future, Neusoft Medical will increase investment in high-end medical device research and development.
Also interested in high-end equipment is the Guangyao Baiyun Mountain, which is mainly engaged in wholesale, sales and import and export business in the field of medical devices. At the beginning of this year, Guangyao Baiyunshan announced the layout of high-end medical device research and development, the first phase of the production of pediatric and orthopedic professional MR machines. Whether it is a well-known domestic software company or a pharmaceutical giant or a company that focuses on the development of medical devices, it has increased its horsepower to develop high-end medical devices, hoping to take a share in this market.
Strive for the primary medical market
The development of the domestic high-end medical device market mainly benefited from policy support. According to relevant statistics, only in 2015 the country introduced 18 relevant policies to support the development of domestic medical devices.
According to the relevant policy contents of the Beijing Business Daily reporter, these policies are mainly focused on procurement, R&D and production technologies. The important indicator that the market can develop is undoubtedly whether the product can be sold. The above policies provide convenience for domestic enterprises in terms of sales. At present, most domestic enterprises place their main markets in primary medical institutions.
According to the introduction of Sai Nuosheng, the president of Sanofisheng, the main sales market of CT developed by Sanofi Sheng is divided into public and private medical institutions. Among them, the customer base of public hospitals is mainly secondary and below. In private hospitals, medical institutions with annual incomes of over 100 million rarely choose domestic CT, and hospitals with annual incomes of 50 million to 60 million yuan are the focus of domestic CT.
The grassroots market has long been the focus of the layout of multinational medical device manufacturers, and domestic brands will face fierce competition. As early as 2009, GE Global launched the “Healthmagination” strategy, announced that it will invest USD 3 billion in the next six years to develop 100 new products that can increase medical coverage, improve quality and reduce costs; Siemens has launched an economical product. The SMART strategy divides the medical business, 40% is based on basic medical care, and 60% is oriented to the middle and high end.
Shi Lichen, head of Beijing Dingchen Medical Management Consulting Center, said that the medical device market mainly consists of two major markets, namely, top three hospitals and primary medical institutions. It is easier for domestic enterprises to open this market because of the shortage of funds and the state's support for medical equipment replacement.
Missing core technology
In the context of more than 80% of the high-end medical equipment market monopolized by multinational corporations, “localization” has been the main theme in recent policies and industries. “The medical equipment used in our hospitals is mainly Siemens, domestically produced equipment. The quality still needs to be improved. Local enterprises can produce medical equipment, but the important part of the instrument is still not domestically produced." A doctor in a top three hospital said frankly.
According to Fu Nongong, the company's CT product parts suppliers include overseas and domestic, mainly domestic processing and electronic processing; special material processing, microelectronic processing and vacuum electronic processing mainly rely on foreign suppliers. . In terms of parts procurement, the domestic market is relatively large, but the purchase amount is higher abroad, at more than 50%.
An unnamed analyst told the Beijing Business Daily that some of the domestic technology does have independent research and development capabilities, but the core components are still unable to break through. They need to go abroad to buy and return to the country for assembly. But in this case, after-sales damage repair becomes an untimely bomb. The domestic high-end medical device market is now entering the development phase. The core technology and after-sales service are still the focus of various medical institutions, and it is also the difficulty that domestic enterprises need to overcome.
